Is there a specific format for the application?
Applicants should limit their initial proposal to 1 or 2 A4 pages in Arial 10 point font. This and their CV should be sent in PDF format or, if not possible, in Word format to the email: lri@cefic.be .
Who will the award go to?
The award will be presented to an individual with an appointment in a Europe-based research institution. Preference will be given to early-career scientists with active involvement in interdisciplinary research and access to appropriate networks.
What do you mean by early career scientist?
An individual with less than ten years of experience post doctoral degree is generally considered ‘early career’. No age limit will be applied.
Do you have restrictions in the way the prize money should be spent?
The award can be used to fund any part of the research for which it was awarded, including salary and equipment. However, a limit of less than 10% for institution overhead has been set. The winner will be asked to submit a bi-annual progress report of their work, and may be invited to present at subsequent workshops.
It says finalists will need to present their work in Brussels. Who will provide travel expenses?
Travel expenses related to the selection process and the final presentation will be provided by Cefic.
What if I am not available to go to Brussels?
Attendance for the Brussels presentation is essential. Sending a collaborator to present the work is acceptable.
Can this award be shared by two or more scientists involved in the same project?
Only one applicant will be considered per project. However, it is not proscribed for the winner to choose to share the prize money with collaborators.
