EPAA 3Rs Communications Prize 2011


Call for submissions (deadline 5 September 2011)

For the second year in a row, EPAA is offering a 3000€ Prize for an essay or article that broadens awareness of the importance to promote alternative approaches in safety assessment and regulatory compliance testing. Submissions should be sent no later than 5 September 2011 at entr-epaa@ec.europa.eu

The prize announcement will take place in Brussels at the EPAA annual conference on 9 November 2011.

EPAA reserves the right to publish the winning essay/article in the press and international journals and to use it in any other publicity activity with reference to the EPAA award.

This is an open competition. Submissions should be sent by email to the EPAA Secretariat at entr-epaa@ec.europa.eu. Submission is taken as indicating acceptance of the rules of the competition.

Evaluation process

Submissions will be assessed by a panel drawn from EPAA members from industry and the European Commission and from the EPAA Mirror Group. The assessment will be based on the:

  • General quality of the paper
  • Quality of description of personal views
  • Qality of explanation of the 3Rs principle to a non-specialised audience

Formal requirements

The essay/article should be written in English, be no longer than 1500 words, it may include diagrams or pictures. The essay/article should be submitted together with a signed cover letter with:

  • Your name, full contact details, brief biographical information and indication of how you found out about the prize.
  • A statement to the effect that your entry does not contain unacknowledged material, is original work, is the property of the author, and has not been published elsewhere without this being noted.
  • Your name and address should only appear on the cover letter and should not appear on the actual essay/article.
